After almost drowning in a farm house dam, Orlando (12) lies in hospital in a coma but Orlando isn’t in his body: he finds himself standing before a dilapidated Queenslander. This is The Lost House, where the lost things go; where time stands still. Orlando isn’t alone. Luca (13) has lived in The Lost House for decades - stuck at the same age he was when he arrived.
Back home, Orlando fights for his life in hospital family must accept Orlando for what he is - a boy, not the girl, he was born as. Orlando has gender dysphoria and wants to live his life as a boy. It could be the hope Orlando needs in order to wake up.
At the Lost House Orlando's desperate to find the portal out and hides the truth of who he is from Luca. Yet Luca has a secret of his own and it's the key to getting them both home.
The Lost House is a YA fiction about friendship, connection and acceptance. Author, Kimberley Lipschus, has been awarded a residency at the prestigious Byron Bay writers festival to develop the manuscript.
The Lost House is due for release December 2020.
